An R&D centre designed to cater to the defence
sector of India.

As the roads of the city leads to the new developing area of Mundwa, the green facade of the R&D center stands out among the skyline of high rise buildings in the vicinity.

Bharat Forge, a Pune based global company involved in forging shifted its focus to automation. Deriving energy from the ‘Make in India’ program, Bharat Forge’s initiated the idea of building a research and development center catering to the defense sector of the nation.

Fast construction and eco-friendly design were also the governing factors while designing. Pre-cast construction was adopted throughout the structure, making it the first structure in India that is completely built with pre-cast technology (source: PIIPL).

Due to this method, the estimated time of construction of this four storied building is only twelve to fourteen months. Since the elements of the building are manufactured under monitored conditions, they have better quality, finish and the construction is done with complete accuracy.

Quick construction and high quality finish were of utmost priorities for this project. The fine finish of the pre-cast elements proved beneficial while large spans required for the workstation could be easily achieved by this method. Other factors such as accurate construction, minimal requirement of labour help and a cleaner site added to the benefit of pre-cast conditions.
